The fifth light+building in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, ended with a record attendance that is absolutely sensational in the trade fair industry. More than 165,000 visitors (compared to 135,000 in 2006) had come to the international professional trade fair for architecture and technology to see the fantastic range of offers of 2,173 manufacturers of lighting, electrotechnology and home and building automation. In comparison to the event of two years ago, this represents a considerable growth rate of 22 percent.

DESIGN PLUS AWARD FOR THE ROUND SWITCH |

Design Plus awards prizes for outstanding product design to exhibitors of the light + building. Today the prize awarded by Messe Frankfurt counts among Germany's leading design awards. It has been standing for high standards in terms of design and functionality for some twenty years now.
Merten's round switch has been awarded one of the sought-after Design Plus awards. This year's award was presented on 6 April 2008 at the light + building fair.
"Why do light switches need to be square? Do we need to account for this system concept developed in the 1960s in every case?"
Konstantin Grcic pursued these and other questions at a Merten workshop. And he concluded the following: a “round” breakout of the “square” system allows shape to indicate functions - the well-known German designer now assigns "socket-outlet/power" to the square shape, while round means "switch".

Imagine you could control not only your television, DVD player and complete hifi system, but also building functions such as lights and blinds, all with a single remote control.
Merten makes it happen – with the new CONNECT radio universal remote control. Its attractive design is impressive and it combines two kinds of technology in one device: infrared and radio.
With it, up to five AV devices or all Merten IR components can be controlled via infrared. At the same time, it allows you to operate Merten CONNECT system devices. The remote control can also be used to teach and program various radio applications.

The requirements of KNX power supplies vary significantly according to the type and the scope of a construction project. Smaller projects require suitably dimensioned solutions, while large projects build on failure protection and extendibility. Merten now offers you the perfect solution: with a new product family that covers all power classes.
The current KNX power supply series supplies 160 mA, 320 mA and 640 mA to one line of bus devices respectively, depending on the version. In addition to these basic versions, a KNX power supply with an emergency power input is also available for each current level. In combination with the optional emergency power supply, the Merten KNX power supplies are able to meet even the highest safety standards.

With the new Merten KNX Basic weather station, you are offering your customers the perfect solution for doing so. This device records weather data such as wind speed, rain, brightness and temperature, all under one umbrella.
Its functional principal is incredibly simple: the values measured by the Basic weather station are transmitted directly to the BUS via KNX, which can in turn control utilities such as heating, lighting, blinds or awnings on the basis of this data.
It's practical: the KNX Basic weather station does not require an extra power supply. It is supplied directly with the bus voltage and 230 V AC.

Whether for lighting, heating, air conditioning or blinds – many KNX functions can now be regulated based on weather data such as brightness and outside temperature.
The advantage is obvious: more efficiency, convenience and security. Now, with the new combi-sensor for brightness and temperature, you can offer your customers a smart solution that records both weather measurements using a single device. What's more, there is no need to lay extra cables as the module is connected directly to the bus. It couldn't be simpler.
