The heart of the games in Beijing is the olympic stadium built by Herzog & de Meuron - Merten products will also be in the running when the athletes are going for gold.
From the 8th to the 24th of August, Beijing's new landmark will be hosting the opening and closing ceremony, the athletic competitions and the men's football final. The arena which has an olympic seating capacity of 91 000 is home to top-notch technology, providing the athletes, the spectators and the organisers with the necessary comfort. Amongst the high-tech products are Merten products from Wiehl.
In addition to KNX cables, REG-K/12x230/16 dimming actuators, ARGUS presence detectors and System M switches were installed amongst other things to control corridor lighting and to control the control room or emergency exits centrally.

Many homes and flats are already equipped with two-circuit switches. Up until now dimmers were however not used. For quite some time, in order to retrofit dimmers, it was necessary to shut-down a circuit or to tear open walls and install an additional flush-mounted socket. Merten offers a simple, innovative solution: Simply exchange the existing two-circuit switch with a 2-gang universal dimmer insert to create a new atmosphere for your home.
No additional cables, no additional flush-mounted sockets: The 2-gang universal dimmer insert with its two circuits, which can each be operated with a maximum load of 200 watts, opens up a new variety of combinations. Different loads such as incandescent lamps, halogen lamps or transformers can be controlled together from a single flush-mounted socket.
When the dimmer is switched off the intelligent memory function saves the level of brightness last set – so when it is next switched on the light tone remains the same.
Merten offers the right switch design for all types of interior decor: the dimmer rocker is available in three types of material and in all System M designs and in ARTEC and ANTIK design from the System Design range.

The new family of Merten switch actuators fulfills all your customers' wishes. Merten has the right switch actuator for every application, which distinguish themselves by their simple installation. The switch actuators are available as 2-gang, 4-gang, 8-gang and 12-gang version. Whether it be small or large loads, no problem!
The switch actuators are available from 6 A to 16 A with electrical or mechanic manual mode. Furthermore, selected actuators have current detection, which measures the load current of each channel, an operating hours counter, a switch-on counter and an integrated power meter. In addition a comprehensive Merten switch actuator application programme is available for download on the Merten homepage.

This year the The Design Annual impressed numerous visitors with a exhibition of top international design.
From the 4th to the 7th of July, following the motto "Leben, Wohnen, Arbeiten: Das beste Design unserer Zeit" (Living, residing, working: the best design of our time), around 80 internationally renowned manufacturers, designers and architects transformed the Frankfurt Festhalle for third time into first class living spaces. Over the four days numerous professional and private visitors came to experience how top brands presented this years "inside showtime" theme.
Intelligent Merten solutions for the topics radio and modernisation and also KNX and renovation were at the centre of the "Design Annual". Not only that, new products for building communication were also important parts of the product presentation in the Frankfurt Festhalle.
The action theatre Mobilé from Cologne showcased the "showtime" theme. The performers demonstrated Merten solutions in a humourous and tangible way with plenty of gusto.
Within the scope of the "Decorate Life" trade fair, the Merten Design Annual 2008 stand was the best invitation to the "showtime" event!
