THE DESIGN ANNUAL
With the title "The Design Annual - inside: private identity", Messe Frankfurt and Stylepark AG put on a very special design event from 14 - 17 June 2007 in the Frankfurter Festhalle.
This year, the theme of the stand display was "Link me up!". Stand visitors could explore around 50 m² of various Merten living environments, experience the comfort of BUS and KNX technology, and "turn on to" individual scenarios in bedroom, living room and kitchen areas. Merten's stand design was inspired by the dramatic film “Dogville” by director Lars von Trier, whose minimal set was praised by critics and audiences in 2003.

At Merten's stand for "The Design Annual", rooms were merely implied. "Walls and pathways from an architect's drawing were transferred onto the floor in 1:1 scale, and formed the basic floor plan for the atmosphere that concentrated on the essentials of switching", said marketing director, Jörg Lamers.
Various operating elements demonstrate the possibilities of new electronic building technology: at the push of a button settings emerge which link the individual switching receivers with one another and thus convey an atmosphere individually adapted to the user, such as the combination of light dimming and heating control or blind, music and room temperature control.
Major figures from the world of architecture and design have generated new, ground-breaking ideas for Merten. For Merten, this was the chance to develop an innovative design strategy. Visitors had insight into the exciting design process right at the stand.
